Developed analog circuitry for a remote RF tag identification system for fiber optic connector identification and tracking for optical cross connect patch panels. Designed driver and tag antennas, antenna drive, sense, and tag circuit. Also: some recent work on simulation software in JAVA.

Responsible for all system analog circuit design, including low noise photodiode sensor and amplifier, high speed led drivers, magnetic motion control drivers, dacs and adc's, PCB layout, EMI, simulation. Complete PID servo algorithm design, including optimization for fixed point DSP math, extensive matlab modeling, and error budget analysis. Open loop targeting algorithm design, prior to servo lock. Tuning procedure to bring underdamped 2nd order system to target with no residual oscillation around target. Analytical characterization of sensor noise, from photodiode pre-amp through digitizing process.

Complete embedded processor (68332) electronic system design, FLASH and SRAM memory, solenoid drivers, brushless DC motor drivers, multiple serial interfaces implemented in FPGA, parallel display interface, discrete ESD protected I/O. Complete embedded processor (68HC11) electronic system design, including closed loop flyback and forward converter universal input switching power supplies (including a specialized arc lamp current source drive), low noise analog signal path from photodiode inputs to 20 bit A/D, V/F and ratiometric A/D implemented in an asynchronous complex programmable logic design, LED display, keypad, serial computer interface, stepper motor drivers, analog (D/A) output, firmware, IIR filter. I also did some contract work for Linear Instruments during this time. A root solving inverse Laplace transform program written in C, with 80486 assembly language routines to optimize performance.

Complete embedded processor (68008) electronic system design, including linear power supplies, user interface, motion control, closed loop digital (PID) temperature control, including high resolution temperature digitizer, digital signal processing, and barcode cartridge reader. Analog servo control of a galvanometer, using PID, jerkless curve, feed forward, and integration cutout. All of the digital electronics in this system, including 6803 and 6809 processors, non-volatile SRAM, EPROM, and DRAM memory. More than 20000 have been sold.
